About the role
PCI is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for its PCI Albany 576 operations based in Malta, NY. This individual will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models, coordinating designs, and supporting BIM/VDC workflows to ensure project success.
Responsibilities
- Attend kick-off meetings to confirm Level of Development, scope, project details, and contract requirements before modeling begins.
- Create 3D models using Revit, including Interior and Exterior Walls (framing), Ceiling and Soffit Framing, Acoustical Ceilings, Specialty Panels, Raised Access Floor, Clean Room Walls and Ceilings, Unistrut, No Fly Zones, and other specialty scopes to the required Level of Development.
- Participate in BIM coordination and design meetings.
- Coordinate with point cloud files and ensure models are spatially coordinated.
- Escalate issues to the BIM Coordinator and Design/Operations Team as needed.
- Identify model and document inconsistencies and bring them to the attention of the BIM Coordinator and Design/Operations Team.
- Ensure all model elements are fully coordinated within PCI’s scope and perform BIM compliance checks of deliverables.
- QC models against project documents for discrepancies using Navisworks Manage to run clash detection and resolve PCI clashes.
- Attend staff training to enhance knowledge and expertise of standardized software.
- Create and maintain project-specific content consistent with instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and project BIM standards.
- Engage with the Design and Operations Team to implement best practices in BIM/VDC.
- Coordinate with BIM/VDC service providers and clients.
- Provide design support tasks, including processing installation drawings, incorporating comments, and producing details and layout files.
- Clean, prepare, and organize CAD/Navisworks files for field use.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering Fields, etc.) preferred; 2-year technical degree or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- 4+ years of BIM (Revit)/VDC modeling and coordination experience.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360 Design/Glue.
- Must present a portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor.
- Experience with Bluebeam PDF Software.
- Ability to understand design and document coordination.
- Innovative and creatively minded individual looking to improve process, procedure, and construction techniques.
- Ability to take responsibility for the outcome and results of assigned projects.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to work in a team environment and in independent/isolated/unsupervised environments.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to communicate the benefits of BIM/VDC for internal and external purposes.
- Passion about BIM/VDC and how it can improve productivity in design and construction.
- Ability to multitask under pressure and handle last-minute requests.
- Flexibility and willingness to visit project sites and other important areas as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cleanroom, non-structural metal framing, drywall, façade systems, and ceiling systems.
- Working knowledge of Dynamo, Revit API, and SketchUp.

Pay
$78,900 – $106,000 annual salary plus a non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.
