Design Engineer

Morgan Olson is the leading walk-in van body manufacturer in North America, producing over 7,500 vehicles annually. Its portfolio of customers serves a multitude of industries and delivery applications, with the primary industry being parcel package pick up & delivery. Other key industries served include textile rental and laundry services, baking and snack foods, newspaper delivery, service & utility vehicles, and mobile cuisine food trucks.

About the Role

Using SolidWorks, responsible for 3D/2D design activities required for current and new products in any of the following areas: New Product Development, Testing, Manufacturing.

Essential Functions and Activities

• Create designs and detail drawings independently or along with a team of engineers and designers, using SolidWorks software.
• Ensure that the design is created in accordance with required specifications.
• May assist in building a prototype of the intended vehicle for testing and approval.
• Make modifications and/or integrate new improvements into new designs or existing designs to improve their performance, integrate new technology, and make more cost effective.
• Integrate new improvements into designs and work with the quality assurance team to ensure that required quality standards are adhered to.
• Interact with sales and customers on design specifications to ensure total satisfaction.
• Assist in the creation and improvement of company-wide process documentation.
• Support and participate in Morgan Olson's PPS team efforts.
• Adhere to Quality policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer focused, and supporting continuous improvement activities.
• Adhere to Safety policies and practices, behavioral based safety 100% of the time.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of recent Design/CAD experience required.
• SolidWorks experience highly preferred.
• SolidWorks Professional Certifications a plus.
• Design/Engineering degree preferred.
• Experience with JD Edwards ERP a plus.
