Design Engineer

About the role

Moog in Orrville, OH is a global designer and manufacturer of high performance hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical (EM) actuators for nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, as well as for some of the most demanding industrial applications. Our naval products comply with stringent qualification requirements such as shock, vibration, low acoustic signature, and seawater corrosion resistance, while our industrial products are often designed to comply with API, ATEX, or other customer specific requirements. Many of our applications are mission or safety critical.

Responsibilities

• Professionally interface with customer and supplier representatives during project reviews and to resolve emergent technical issues.
• Perform assigned engineering tasks within budget and time constraints to support project cost and schedule objectives.
• Exercise effective and logical engineering judgement in all design decisions, provide organized and thorough technical support as required.
• Obtain a detailed working knowledge of applicable customer application documents, military specifications, and contract requirements.
• Successfully collaborate with internal Moog areas of contract administration, program management, manufacturing, quality, assembly and test to ensure new equipment designs satisfy all stakeholder interests prior to entering production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology; or related degree/discipline with three (3) or more years relevant experience.
• Solid communication skills to engage with customers, program managers, manufacturing teams, and other engineering staff and personnel throughout Moog.
• Strong, data driven decision-making skills.
• Practical knowledge and/or experience with mechanical part and system analysis.
• Practical knowledge and/or experience with hydraulic system design.
• Practical knowledge and/or experience with technical drawing practices and GD&T standards.
• 3D CAD modeling experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Skills

Design engineering function, creating engineering calculations and design reports, CAD models, part drawings, assembly drawings, test procedures, and support performance of on-site and off-site qualification tests.

Pay

Orrville, OH $75,000.00–$110,000.00 Annually
