Design Engineer

About the role

This position is responsible for the design, development, and transition to production of consumer directed, aesthetically-pleasing, innovative, cost-effective and reproducible designs of furniture, mounts and accessories for the audio-visual industry. This position is also responsible for participating on cross-functional development teams for the purpose of ensuring high integrity designs through effective use of appropriate analytical tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design aesthetically-pleasing, functional and manufacturable customer driven, innovative products.
• Assist Marketing team members by providing leadership, guidance and education to both internal and external customers on product features, advantages and benefits stemming from the designs.
• Effectively interface with engineers, designers, technicians, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to meet project commitments.
• Effectively influence and communicate between internal departments to manage projects.
• Create product documentation: solid modeling of components and assemblies, technical drawings, BOM’s and ECO’s.
• Participate in and/or lead cross-functional teams for the associated product lines.
• Provide new product training to Marketing, Customer Service, Sales and others.
• Provide technical product support to customers.
• Learn and expand personal knowledge of the industry, competitors and the customers, through trade show attendance and direct and indirect customer interaction, to competitively enhance and grow the Company’s product capabilities.
• Represent Company at trade shows, trade association and client meetings to promote products and services.

• Minimum Education And Experience Required:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or other related technical degree with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer in a manufacturing environment; or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 3D CAD work experience.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in consumer driven product design.
  • DFMEA and FEA experience.
  • Experience with SolidWorks.
  • Electrical or controls experience.
  • Experience working with multiple disciplines, including electrical and mechanical design, layout, manufacturing, external suppliers and service providers.
  • UL, TUV and/or CE experience.
  • Experience with SAP.

Pay

$85,000 - $100,000/annually
