Design Engineer
About the role
Collaborate with other staff on the product design, research and development, marketing and manufacturing teams to create highly functional products or services that are profitable and meet user needs. The primary focus for this position is the design and documentation of industrial control panels to UL508A.
Tasks / Responsibilities (Including, but Not Limited To)
- Provides E-Plan support by designing, documenting, and/or editing redline documents. This would include 3D models, Assemblies, Bill of Materials, and Schematic.
- Provides AutoCAD support by designing, documenting, and/or editing redline documents. This would include schematics, detailed drawings, and customer drawing packages.
- Designs and documents based on sold order for such services using E-Plan, SolidWorks, and/or AutoCAD.
- Supports the manufacturing department by creating and maintaining work instructions and test documents for projects on the floor.
- Oversees projects on the manufacturing floor in a technical support role to rectify drawing, BOM, or other issues as they arise.
- Acts as liaison between customer and CES to rectify drawing, BOM, or other issues as they arise.
- Assists the sales cycle in an engineering role by providing guidance on product selection, design considerations, and best practices.
- Provides assistance to customers and sales staff in product selection through use of technical sizing software and aids.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.

- Demonstrates expert knowledge and proficiency in the following software programs:
- E-Plan
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- UL508A
- .NET Office Suite
- PowerPoint
- NEC, IEC code compliance
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently.
- Communicates effectively (both written and verbal) with customers and colleagues.
- Demonstrates organization, attention to detail, multitasking ability, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
Environmental/Physical Requirements
Office/Sedentary Requirements – Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Preferred Experience / Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of five (5) years of design engineering experience preferred.
