Responsibilities
- Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes.
- Counsels with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design, design modifications as required.
- Conducts analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop design for products, equipment, machines, associated and subsystems components, and structures.
- Creates and releases Engineering Drawings, Bills of Material (BOM’s), ASME calculations and Routings.
- Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposal; analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
- Develops custom procedures as needed.
- May determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
- Confers with cross-functional teams, including product managers, manufacturing engineers, quality assurance, and the production floor to ensure the successful implementation of design projects.
- Ensures product fit, form and function meet customer requirements.
Requirements
- At least 3+ years of related experience and/or training in a related field; a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required.
- Knowledge of PC software applications such as AutoCAD is required; Solid Modeling and 3D Design in Inventor and Vault PDM are preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment mfg., welding technology, control panels with systems-specific pressure vessels, piping, pump, fluid transfer, and heat transfer design experience.
- Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Experience with mathematical concepts and applying common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- ASME (Section VIII & Section I), PED, CRN, CSA, ATEX / IEC, NEC, NACE, ANSI, and TEMA code experience and familiarity preferred.
