About The Role

Our client, the largest private-sector power producer in the world, is seeking a Nuclear Design Engineer for a long-term remote contract. This role supports the design, construction, and operation of a world-class nuclear fleet, performing advanced technical and engineering problem-solving to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. You will act as a resource and technical expert to engineers, making critical technical decisions and providing subject-matter expertise. The position requires detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations, strong technical leadership, and the ability to support both routine and emergency plant activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs for nuclear plant operations.
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement and as a subject-matter expert to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
  • Directly fulfill engineering and technical leadership accountability regarding short-term and long-term programs that impact site operations.
  • Apply engineering principles to assigned tasks, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work.
  • Ensure proper configuration management and adherence to standard design criteria, practices, procedures, and codes in preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
  • Recommend equipment, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
  • Perform other job assignments and duties as directed by management or pursuant to company policy, including but not limited to emergency response, departmental coverage, call-outs, and support of outage activities in positions outside the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear).
  • 2+ years (Midlevel) or 5+ years (Senior) of nuclear or related engineering experience.
  • Ability to maintain minimum or unescorted access requirements and pass medical examination/testing as required.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer Registration (preferred).
  • Experience in design and modification of turbines, motors, pumps, heaters, transformers, generators, etc. (preferred).
  • Open to Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, and I&C Engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, regulations, and engineering standards.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and ability to provide subject-matter consultation.
  • Experience with configuration management and preparation of engineering plans/specifications.
  • Ability to perform independent research, reviews, and technical analyses.
