Position Title: Design Engineer Salary Range: $65,000–$85,000 / Year, DOE This is an opportunity for a Design Engineer who wants to do more than sit behind a computer all day. You’ll take custom automated material handling equipment from 3D design through hands-on assembly, testing, and refinement, working on unique machines built to grasp, lift, and maneuver everything from engine blocks to boxes and other components within manufacturing environments. You’ll manage multiple projects at different stages, collaborate directly with the shop team and see your designs come to life from concept through completion. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of mechanical design experience, strong 3D modeling skills, and a hands-on mindset. They’re looking for someone collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small, hardworking engineering environment. Responsibilities Design custom automated material handling machines and tooling using 3D modeling softwareManage the full design process from initial computer-based concepts through assembly, testing, and final adjustmentsWork simultaneously across approximately 3–4 projects in various stages of design and productionSpend time on the shop floor assembling equipment, preparing parts, drilling, tapping and supporting other fabrication activitiesTest completed assemblies and make design modifications or adjustments based on performanceCollaborate closely with welders, engineers, and other team members throughout the build processSupport tooling and machine assembly for operator-driven material handling systems Requirements 3+ years of professional Design Engineer experience with hands-on 3D mechanical designBachelor’s or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be consideredExperience with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or comparable 3D modeling softwareProficiency with Microsoft OfficeAbility and willingness to work both at a computer and hands-on in a shop environmentCollaborative, team-oriented approach with the flexibility to contribute wherever neededStable work history and demonstrated ability to independently manage engineering projects Benefits Medical insurance with 80% of the employee premium covered by the company401(k) with a 100% company match3 weeks of PTO to start, increasing to 4 weeks after four yearsPaid company holidaysEmployee-paid dental and vision insurance optionsAnnual performance reviews and salary increasesFlexibility to work from home when circumstances allow If you’re an engineer who wants ownership of your designs, enjoys solving new mechanical challenges, and wants to actually build what you create, apply today!
