About the role

The Design Engineer supports the design, quotation, and manufacturing of ASME pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks. This role involves developing engineering calculations, material requirements, fabrication documentation, and design packages while ensuring compliance with ASME, API, and TEMA codes and standards. The Design Engineer collaborates with customers, vendors, inspectors, and production personnel to deliver accurate quotations, support fabrication, resolve technical questions, and compile final project documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ASME & API calculations for customer RFQs using Compress and AME Tank software packages.
  • Review ASME & API fabrication drawings for code compliance prior to customer submittal.
  • Prepare Pressure Vessel/Heat Exchanger Job Design packages (Calculations, Inspection Traveler, Weld Map, BOM) prior to A.I. review.
  • Field questions from shop personnel and customers.
  • Maintain working knowledge of ASME/API/TEMA code specification changes.
  • Review and approve Material Test Reports (MTRs) for ASME Section II compliance.
  • Compose Final Data Packages for customer submittal.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-7 years of mechanical design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Experience designing pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, or similar engineered-to-order products (preferred).

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API, and TEMA codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in engineering calculations and mechanical design.
  • Technical drawing and blueprint interpretation.
