Allient Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role provides engineering support for new customer application development, new product launch, cost reductions, and manufacturing improvements through collaboration with sales, engineering, quality, and manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Manages and coordinates the design and release to production of products to meet customer needs and reflect current/future strategic manufacturing processes.
- Analyzes and interprets engineering data for products and components, modifications, and changes.
- Confers with manufacturing engineering to assist in methodizing product operations, tooling requirements, feasibility of manufacture or subcontracting, and labor/material cost estimates.
- Develops and presents technical information to aid in strategic planning initiatives.
- Recommends resources required to enhance product performance and/or resolve design/manufacturing issues.
- Plans and develops experimental test programs; analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Works with production and engineering staff to solve problems associated with design and manufacturing of products.
- Communicates with engineering and customer personnel to coordinate interrelated design and ensure project completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical.
- 5–10 years of work experience; knowledge of gear motors, electric motors, and drives is a plus.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Experience with mechanical motion systems and motion control systems preferred.
- Solid computer skills, including MS Office and engineering design software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or Altium.
Work Environment
- Predominantly office-based with occasional exposure to the production floor and development lab.
- While on the production floor, may be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may require protective wear such as safety glasses.
- Some travel may be required.
- May involve standing and walking on the production floor or in the development lab.
