The Role
Amphenol Military High Speed is seeking a Design Engineer to work out of its new facility in Endicott, NY. Key responsibilities include:
- Prepares designs and specifications, assists in generation of layouts
- Prepares and checks drawing and processes changes as required for production and customers
- Assure form, fit, and function of components through dimensional studies, and correlates engineering data to customer specifications
- Interfaces with other departments for the manufacturing and testing of samples
- Interfaces with customers and vendors to assure conformance to customer specifications
- Captures manufacturing and quality problems and coordinates the manufacturing of customer prototypes
- Processes estimate requests and marketing product requests
- Performs engineering investigations of manufacturing/quality problems
- Reviews customer documents for compliance with AMHS documents and prepares new designs if necessary
- Communicates regularly and proactively with customers, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Process, Purchasing, and experimental personnel
Requirements
The successful candidate must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Experience in design or design engineering
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Creo (preferred)
- Ability to work from written and oral instruction, with minimum supervision
- A working knowledge of PTC Creo and Windchill
- Ability to work collaboratively with others on the Design Engineer team to accomplish required tasks to support the interests of the business
- A dedicated focus on intricate details of engineering designs
- Willingness to contribute extra effort in support of critical business opportunities
- Proactive periodic communication to manager regarding status of activities
- Willingness to travel (15 to 20%)
