Design & Application Engineer

About the role

As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing anti-vibration solutions that meet customer requirements while ensuring technical excellence and product performance. You will identify and recommend the most suitable products from the existing portfolio, create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings, and provide expert technical guidance to customers on product selection and application.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute validation test programmes to demonstrate product suitability for specific applications, documenting results.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting engineering best practices and contributing to the overall technical capability of the team.
• Demonstrate commitment to the management system by contributing to its effective implementation, operation, and control.
• Receive and understand detailed needs of clients through careful consultation with relevant people in their organization.
• Create concept proposals including the appropriate technical specification and costs, and assess the feasibility of manufacturing the product.
• Perform technical calculations relating to stress, strain, and stiffness, and define tests to demonstrate that the design meets customer technical requirements.
• Design a product solution that meets customer expectations based on experience of similar applications, manual calculations, or computer programmes.
• Raise appropriate data for a new product and chair engineering review meetings.
• Provide customers with reports detailing the product selection for their application.
• Ensure the product can be readily manufactured in a timely and cost-effective manner by understanding the manufacturing implications of tolerances and detailed design solutions.
• Be dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service and answer all inquiries in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance to other department members and share knowledge of experience, advising on best design principles to provide the best design solution.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within the anti-vibration products industry.
• Degree qualified in Mechanical or Polymer Engineering.
• Ability to design and communicate information presented on complex engineering drawings, and have a sound grasp of product design.
• 3D CAD knowledge is an essential requirement.
• Experience in product design and understanding the design process.
• A high level of attention to detail is essential.
• Excellent communication skills and previous experience in liaising and interacting efficiently with customers in a professional manner.
• Experience in applying analytical approaches to the resolution of design solutions.
• Familiarity with Microsoft programs.
