About the role
An opportunity is available for an experienced mid-level System Design Electrical Engineer to support multiple programs. This role involves the development of maintenance equipment, including connections between equipment and aircraft subsystems, network infrastructure, and computing hardware. The engineer will support fabrication, installation, and verification to deliver a ready-for-test setup for systems used throughout the platform development and sustainment lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Provide hardware and software integration support.
- Design and document electrical systems, components, connections, and interfaces.
- Perform system schematic analysis and design.
- Analyze and develop system requirements.
- Conduct system sell-off and verification.
- Develop electrical wiring for test articles and sub-assemblies.
- Select electrical hardware such as cables, connectors, shielding, and terminal blocks.
- Support lab or flight test instrumentation and data acquisition.
- Solve problems for fielded hardware and software.
- Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like DOORS and Cameo for system definition and architecture.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience with electrical avionics system design is required. This includes subsystem design, interface cable design, hardware/software integration, and coordination with vendors for part selection.
- Candidates must have experience or knowledge of VPX/VME form factor and communication standards such as RS422/RS232, PC104, TCP/IP, Ethernet, IEEE-488, MMSI, and MIL-STD-1553.
- Technical system domain knowledge and experience with product/systems development and integration are also required.
Qualifications
- Experience or knowledge of cyber security principles.
- Experience or knowledge of network design.
- Familiarity with common military standards used in hardware design and testing (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1472).
- Experience with CAD and creating electrical schematics.
- Experience with the implementation and maintenance of systems engineering tools, schedules, and metrics (i.e., DOORs, CAMEO, earned value management).
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- CompTIA Security+ Certification.
