About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience in medical dermatology to join our growing rural health dermatology practice. This role is ideal for a provider who values meaningful patient relationships, continuity of care, and improving access to dermatologic services in underserved communities. The provider will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medically necessary skin conditions while working collaboratively with supervising physicians. This position focuses exclusively on clinical dermatology, emphasizing evidence-based care, patient education, and community impact.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including detailed histories and full-body skin examinations.
• Diagnose and manage common and chronic dermatologic conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, dermatitis, fungal infections, rashes, etc.).
• Identify and treat precancerous and cancerous lesions (AK, BCC, SCC, melanoma) within scope of practice.
• Perform medical dermatology procedures including:
  • Shave, punch, and excisional biopsies
  • Cryotherapy
  • Lesion removal
  • Wound care and post-procedure management
• Order, review, and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic tests.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with licensure and clinical guidelines.
• Provide patient-centered education on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment expectations.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR.
• Uphold all regulatory, clinical, and HIPAA standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and dermatology-specific continuing education.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current NP or PA license in North Carolina.
• National certification (AANP/ANCC for NP; NCCPA for PA).
• Minimum 1 year of dermatology experience (medical dermatology strongly preferred).
• Strong diagnostic reasoning and procedural skills.
