About the role
This position provides patient care in an office setting under the supervision of the medical provider. It meets the communication needs of the patient / family and medical provider. Responsibilities include maintaining and following regulatory requirements and policies and procedures, communicating with medical providers and staff about the patient's clinical condition, and performing various clinical and environmental services.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes patients and visitors.
- Answers and refers inquiries within scope of practice.
- Processes calls and documents appropriately within medical records.
- Maintains communication between medical staff, administrative staff, and/or patient/families.
- Maintains and updates medical records.
- Schedules appointments.
- Facilitates medical requests, including refill requests, work/school notes, and form completion.
- Scans and uploads patient clinical documents into medical charts.
- Coordinates medical provider orders, including diagnostic, referral, pharmaceutical, and surgical services.
- Ensures all supplies and medical records are ready for patient and provider encounters.
- Provides patient education as directed by the medical provider and within scope of practice.
- Ensures all equipment in exams and surgical rooms are clean and properly set up.
- Maintains and monitors clinical supply levels in exam rooms and stock room and requests when needed.
- Maintains all clinical equipment, evaluates equipment for damage or maintenance needs, and reports when needed.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Graduate of a medical assistant program.
- Work Experience: Previous experience in medical practice is preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support Certification, Registered with American Medical Technologist or Certified with American Association of Medical Assistants (preferred).
