Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Locates fugitives through background investigations, using computers and office equipment where applicable, updating information and developing informants.
  • Conducts surveillance when necessary, apprehends or causes apprehension of fugitives.
  • Intrastate and interstate transportation of prisoners.
  • Gives court testimony in extraditions and local criminal cases.
  • Advises on laws and recommends alternatives concerning criminal case dispositions.
  • Maintains issued equipment and personal demeanor consistent with departmental rules and procedures.
  • Prepares daily and monthly reports accurately to provide correct data for status.
  • Affords assistance and cooperation with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Texas Basic Peace Officer Certification and two (2) years of related law enforcement experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License or obtain within 30 days.
  • Willingness to work nights, evenings, overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

Physical Demands And Work Environment & Other Requirements

  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, lift, push, and pull.
  • Exposure to household type cleaning agents, pesticides, inmate control devices that emit pepper agents, and toxic smoke.
