Deputy Survey Project Manager

What You Will Do:
- Project Leadership - Assist in management of projects related to surveying for transportation infrastructure.
- Prepares scopes of work and estimates for survey and mapping projects, including review of manhour estimates to ensure compliance against budgeted hours.
- Provides technical expertise and leadership in the project definition and planning phases.
- Participate in scoping meetings with clients to determine project needs and requirements.
- Collaborate with senior management to resolve schedule and budget challenges as they arise and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident.
- Keeps accurate notes, records, and meeting minutes to document workflow procedures and client standards.
- Team Collaboration - Analyze project resource needs and work with internal survey, photogrammetry and lidar teams to create detailed scopes, budgets and schedules for projects.
- Responsible for advancement of project quality control and quality assurance processes, including updating project status documentation as deliverables are completed.
- Works with team leaders to perform project assignments, drive resource planning, and assist in development of skills of other personnel.
- Collaborate with survey, photogrammetry and lidar teams to deliver detailed and accurate project deliverables.
- Provide oversight, reporting, and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Technical Expertise - Performs QA/QC for difficult or complex boundary surveys and provides documented feedback for production staff to implement in future deliverables.
- Review and perform quality control of final AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley Open Roads Designer mapping deliverables, often derived from multiple technologies.
- Assists with the preparation of roadway right-of-way plans and conducts QA/QC of right-of-way plans.
- Prepares or reviews survey reports and legal descriptions.
- Performs research and interpretation of government files, utilities, and public records documents.
- Aid in the management and execution of various types of surveys using conventional and advanced technologies (photogrammetry, lidar).
- Client Relationship Management - Contribute to the growth of the organization by identifying opportunities for client expansion including State DOTs, transit authorities, cities and/or counties within Ohio.
- Acts as technical expertise and representative of the firm at various functions, as needed.
- Foster repeat business by ensuring client satisfaction and delivering quality projects.
- Develop and improve strategies to increase engagement with Ohio DOT and other stakeholders.
What You Will Bring:
- Licensure/Certification - LSIT Certification required, Ohio PLS a plus.
- Experience and Proficiency - 10+ years in the Survey/Geospatial industry.
- 3+ years managing survey/geospatial transportation tasks.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- ODOT project experience preferred.
- Proficient in surveying techniques and geospatial technologies (e.g., lidar, photogrammetry).
- Working knowledge of industry-standard software (e.g., MicroStation ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
- Ability to translate technical geospatial concepts into understandable language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
- Possess attention to detail and accept an ownership mentality for ensuring data accuracy, deliverable quality, and adherence to established procedures, standards and policies.
- Possess a proactive mindset to anticipate risks and ask questions before problems grow.
- Strong organization skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Other Requirements
- Ability to travel for client visits, conferences and company functions.
- Pre-employment verification, drug screening and satisfactory driving record required.
