About the role
Connecticut’s senior U.S. Senator seeks a dynamic Deputy State Press Secretary and Digital Assistant to support the State Communications Director with coordinating and executing all in-state media activities.
Responsibilities
- Closely track local media coverage
- Plan, organize, and staff press events
- Draft press releases, memos, and talking points
- Develop creative and engaging social media videos about in-state events
- Film and edit videos
- Work closely with constituents, community stakeholders, and other members of the Senator’s Connecticut and DC press and legislative teams
Requirements
- At least two years of press and/or political communications experience
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or a closely related field
Qualifications
- Ability to work diligently under tight deadlines
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Ability to deliver high-quality communications across both print and visual mediums
- Background in government, political, or non-profit organizations is helpful
