About the role

Connecticut’s senior U.S. Senator seeks a dynamic Deputy State Press Secretary and Digital Assistant to support the State Communications Director with coordinating and executing all in-state media activities.

Responsibilities

  • Closely track local media coverage
  • Plan, organize, and staff press events
  • Draft press releases, memos, and talking points
  • Develop creative and engaging social media videos about in-state events
  • Film and edit videos
  • Work closely with constituents, community stakeholders, and other members of the Senator’s Connecticut and DC press and legislative teams

Requirements

  • At least two years of press and/or political communications experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or a closely related field

Qualifications

  • Ability to work diligently under tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Ability to deliver high-quality communications across both print and visual mediums
  • Background in government, political, or non-profit organizations is helpful
