Job Summary

This position will be located in Las Vegas or Carson City, depending on the candidate chosen. The Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR) is the state’s leading workforce development agency. It consists of divisions that offer workforce related services, job placement and training, services for people with disabilities, investigation of claims of discrimination, unemployment insurance benefits, labor market data and more. Many of these services are provided through EmployNV Career and Business Hubs and in cooperation with its community partners.

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and graduation from an accredited law school is required, as is membership in the State Bar of Nevada.

Job Duties

  • Prepare briefs and other responsive pleadings for Petitions for Judicial Review to the district courts throughout Nevada and the Nevada Supreme Court;
  • Attend court hearings;
  • Review Public Records Requests and subpoenas for compliance;
  • Draft regulations on behalf of the Division;
  • Advise the Administrator on legal issues pertaining to the Division.

  • Regulatory & Administrative Law Knowledge;
  • Analytical & Critical Thinking;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute timelines without the need for supervision or reminders;
  • Strong problem-solving skills, must be adept at identifying, developing, and analyzing findings and conclusions, and must be able to prepare and defend their position regarding the same.
