About the Role
In this role, you will manage direct reports and lead interdisciplinary teams to establish construction methods and support activities. You will oversee the construction process, review plans and specifications for costs and constructability, manage corporate processes and procedures, and lead proposal preparation. Your recommendations for studies, lessons learned, project assessments, and new methods will optimize completion of project construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback.
- Develops and recommends the construction staffing plan for approval by Manager of Construction and prepares employee requisitions.
- Directs construction activities of the assigned GBU construction staff, ensuring compliance with GBU Quality Management System.
- Establishes working relationships with GBU Functional teams.
- Approves staffing requisitions as delegated by the Manager of Construction.
- Provides consultation, technical guidance, and direction to Construction and other support functions.
- Manages the successful completion of activities related to the construction of assigned projects.
- Assists in development of standard construction methods.
- Oversees the review of standard plans and specifications for constructability.
- Reviews and evaluates new methods and concepts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
Skills
The most important knowledge and skills needed upon entry to do the job successfully include:
- Prior experience in construction management or a related field.
- Technical skills relevant to construction methods and project management.
- Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage direct reports.
- Experience in reviewing plans and specifications for costs and constructability.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
