About the role
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office seeks dependable, self-motivated individuals to work as Bailiffs and Civil Process Officers. Both positions maintain peace, order, and security within the courtroom and process legal documents.
Responsibilities
- Bailiff: Maintains security, observes courtroom proceedings, assists jury panel, serves legal papers, and performs additional duties.
- Civil Process Officer: Processes and serves legal documents, performs administrative duties, serves as bailiff, and performs additional duties.
Requirements
- Bailiff: Equivalent to one year of professional work experience in civil and criminal process, current CPR (Adult and Child) and AED certification, valid driver’s license, handgun and TASER qualification.
- Civil Process Officer: One year of professional work experience in civil or criminal processes, valid driver’s license, handgun and TASER qualification.
Qualifications
- Bailiff: Must maintain qualifying standards in handgun and TASER within 6 months of hire.
- Civil Process Officer: Must maintain qualifying standards in handgun and TASER within 6 months of hire.
Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to respond to emergencies.
- Knowledge of legal procedures and court protocols.
