Deputy Sheriff / Patrol Division

About the role

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Deputy Sheriff to join the Patrol Division. The ideal candidate will have intermediate protective service work experience, including law enforcement, and must possess North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certification.

Responsibilities

• Enforce laws and patrol assigned areas
• Investigate criminal activity
• Serve civil and criminal papers
• Ensure public safety
• Testify in court
• Maintain records and files
• Prepare reports
• Perform related work as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Moderate experience in law enforcement
• Possession of North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Qualifications

• Must meet minimum qualifications as outlined

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good physical fitness and stamina

Pay

Beginning Salary: $54,034 - $56,736 DOQ
