Deputy Sheriff Part-Time Non-Sworn- Transport Officer
About the role
This position provides, under the general direction of a Sergeant, with general responsibilities. Generally, this position will provide services in the following disciplines: Transport, Background Investigations, and Non-Sworn Court Security/Bailiff.
Responsibilities
- Records for permanent record clear, complete, correct, and concise reports of assignments and investigations.
- Attends training as required.
- Understands and follows the mission and vision statement of the Sheriff’s Office.
- Regular attendance and punctuality required.
- Performs other related duties as may be required or assigned.
- Completes transports of in-custody persons to and from the Dodge County Jail.
- Maintains secure custody of persons being transported.
- Ensures the safety of persons being transported.
Requirements
- Maintains weapons qualifications per the sheriff’s office standards.
- Proficient skill in criminal and non-criminal investigations, and report writing.
- Working knowledge of applicable state statutes, county ordinances, and agency policies, rules, and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to function effectively and prioritize functions under stressful conditions.
- Ability to explain and enforce federal, state, and county laws clearly and courteously.
- The employee must have the ability to testify in court as a credible and trustworthy witness.

Nearly constant time pressure, frequent repetitive activities, frequent work under distractions, frequent high/low temperatures, frequent high stress situations, frequent improper illumination, minimal intense/continuous noise, may be exposed to free flowing blood and communicable disease. May require communicating with persons who are hostile, aggressive, abusive or violent, posing threatening conditions.
