Deputy Sheriff - Lateral Police Officer

Job Duties

• Patrols County areas as assigned, conducting patrol activities by protecting the life and property of citizens, enforcing State motor vehicle laws and criminal laws;
• Maintains high visibility and is alert to criminal activities per information furnished by radio communication, observation, and other sources.
• Conducts proactive patrols, increases crime prevention awareness within his or her patrol area, and regularly develops contact with citizens.
• Prepares and submits electronic reports pertaining to crimes, incidents, activities, and other violations.
• Responds as directed to scenes of traffic accidents; keeps bystanders out of danger; safeguards property as required; gives assistance to injured persons as required; investigates conditions and the cause of the accident.
• Investigate public complaints.
• May appear and testify in court on traffic, criminal or civil cases.
• Safeguards crime scenes and preserves physical evidence relating to various crimes.

Requirements

• Valid and active Ohio (OPOTA) Peace Officer Certification with no more than 1-year break in service.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; Federal, State, and local laws; law enforcement practices and procedures; safety and security practices and procedures; public relations; court processes and procedures.
• Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to complete our background check process successfully.

Salary

$5,000 Sign-on BONUS!!!!

• 1 year: $73,275.89
• 2 years: $76,919.13
• 3 years: $81,165.69
• 4 years: $90,625.60
