The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office seeks candidates for a general duty and investigative law enforcement position. This role involves protecting life and property, preserving peace, and serving the community.

Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Age 21 or older at time of appointment
- Valid Washington State driver's license
- United States citizenship, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
- In-state lateral applicants must have completed the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Basic Law Enforcement Academy and possess a valid peace officers' certificate
- Out-of-state lateral applicants must have completed a state-sponsored or certified Criminal Justice Training Academy and hold a “General Law Enforcement Commission” or equivalent commission
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation including personal history statement, pre-oral board interview, oral board, polygraph, fingerprinting, suitability assessment report, criminal records, credit, driving, reference, and employment checks
- Pass psychological and medical exams after a conditional offer of employment
Benefits
New lateral hires receive a hiring incentive of $25,000 and 80 hours of sick leave available immediately and 80 hours of vacation leave available for use after six months of employment.
