Deputy Sheriff - Court Security & Transport
About the role
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office seeks a dedicated and professional Deputy Sheriff to focus on Court Security & Jail Transport. The position provides a consistent Monday–Friday schedule and supports the safety and order of court operations and oversees the secure transport of individuals in custody.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the safety and order of courtrooms, judges, staff, and visitors
- Providing secure transportation of individuals in custody between jail facilities, courts, medical appointments, and other approved locations
- Maintaining security within judicial buildings and restricted areas
- Responding to incidents and supporting courtroom operations as needed
Requirements
This assignment offers the opportunity to apply strong officer safety skills in a structured environment while serving as a key partner in the justice process. Candidates with prior sworn law enforcement experience are strongly preferred.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be eligible to possess and lawfully use a firearm, and successfully qualify with a handgun and other department weapons according to existing department qualification standards
- Must be P.O.S.T licensed or be eligible for licensing by the Minnesota P.O.S.T. board at the time of hire
Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skill in the competent operation of motor vehicles and other vehicles necessary to law enforcement operations; skill in the competent use of firearms and other law enforcement weapons of the department.
