Deputy Sheriff

Essential Functions

• Patrol assigned areas
• Transport mentally ill persons to appropriate institutions
• Serve Court Orders
• Investigate violations of law
• Appear as court witnesses
• Replevin property under Court Order
• Carry out eviction procedures
• Collect delinquent taxes
• Conduct Sheriff's sales required by law
• Investigate accidents and render aid to the public
• Make reports
• Book, guard, and transport prisoners as required by law and by the Sheriff
• Provide Court security and supervise civilian employees of the Sheriff's Office when necessary

Education

• Graduated from high school or equivalent (G.E.D)

Character

• Must be of good character
• No disregard of the law that would impair usefulness as an employee

Physical Requirements

• Vision: 20/200 uncorrected to 20/20 corrected
• Normal depth perception
• No permanent or ocular abnormality including color blindness
• No indication of organic, active, or irreversible disease of the ear
• Hearing must be such that the applicant can understandably receive frequencies of normal voice range

Licenses

• Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License
