Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must hold a valid state driver’s license
• Must be a high school graduate, hold a GED, or a (HiSET) High School Equivalency Test certificate
• Must be a U.S. citizen and intend to become a resident of Iowa upon hire

Application & Deadline

• Applicants who are already employed as a certified Iowa peace officer: Apply via the county website and attend the Civil Service interview process on August 29, 2026.
• Applicants who are not already employed as a certified Iowa peace officer: Apply via the county website, complete the physical agility and written testing on August 29, 2026, and attend the interview process if you pass the physical agility.

Testing

• Conducted by the Clinton County Civil Service Commission
• At the Clinton River King & Queen Athletic Complex on August 29, 2026, at 8 AM
• Required for applicants who are not already employed as a certified Iowa peace officer
• No restroom facilities available during the physical agility portion
• Appropriate clothing and a government issued photo ID are required
• No alternative test dates are offered for personal conflicts

Salary Range

Starting hourly salary is $35.10. Those with prior law enforcement (including military law enforcement) experience may receive credit for up to 8 prior years.
