Deputy Safety Manager
Onsite role in Ann Arbor, MI.
About the role
To support the Safety Manager in the administration, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the City’s safety programs, policies, and initiatives. Serves as the Deputy Safety Manager and provides operational leadership for assigned safety functions, including safety compliance, training, inspections, incident review, risk assessment, and safety program improvement. Acts on behalf of the Safety Manager during planned or unplanned absences to support continuity of safety operations and reduce risk to employees, City operations, property, and resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management/loss prevention, industrial hygiene, engineering, public health or a related field.
- At least seven (7) or more years of professional safety experience.
- Experience performing work in the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program.
The City of Ann Arbor will consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience in coordinating and servicing multiple work locations.
- Credentials in the Safety area such as an Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA).

Pay
$82,000 - $98,500.
