Deputy Public Guardian I/II
About the role
The County of El Dorado is seeking a Deputy Public Guardian to join the Health and Human Services Agency, Public Guardian division, located in Placerville, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to public service and a passion for helping individuals in need.
Responsibilities
- Assess individuals for eligibility into the program, and learn the rules and regulations with respect to different types of conservatorship.
- Interview clients, families, friends, and neighbors to gather information and compile it into a plan for managing the client's assets and needs.
- Manage and oversee the financial affairs of clients, ensuring that their needs are met and that funds are distributed appropriately.
- Communicate with medical health providers to ensure proper care for clients with mental disorders.
- Represent clients in dealings with various agencies and financial institutions, and explain complex legal policies and conservatorship arrangements.
- Prepare and present court documents and testify in court regarding the recommendation to be appointed guardian or conservator.
Requirements
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in psychology, social services, business, or public administration, or a closely related field. Additionally, one year of technical experience providing support to a public guardianship or social services program is required for the Deputy Public Guardian I position, while two years of experience providing professional support to a public guardianship program at a level equivalent to the County's class of Deputy Public Guardian I is required for the Deputy Public Guardian II position.
Qualifications
Deputy Public Guardian I Equivalent: Bachelor's degree and one year of technical experience. Deputy Public Guardian II Equivalent: Bachelor's degree and two years of experience.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
