About the role

The Deputy Practice Leader, Federal, partners with the Federal Practice Leader to guide the strategic direction, growth, implementing practice-wide technical strategy, and positioning for the federal practice. This role supports business development in the federal market, maintaining and building agency relationships, capture planning to ensure sustainable growth of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Practice Leaders, Operations Managers and Team Leaders on practice strategy, growth and sales.
  • Supports pursuits and execution of strategic, large, complex and/or technical projects.
  • Ensures alignment with federal regulations, contracting requirements and quality standards.
  • Executes the practice's strategic vision.
  • Develops pipeline and agency specific growth strategies.
  • Strengthens client relationships with federal agencies and partners.
  • Led targeted federal market sector, agencies or contract vehicles.
  • Supports identifying, recruiting and hiring within the practice.
  • Proactively evaluates workloads across the practice and coordinates staffing projections and work-sharing efforts to support federal IDIQ/MATOC/Task orders.
  • Conducts research of market trends within the practice and develops focused marketing strategies.
  • Collaborates with QA Manager to ensure QA/QC processes are implemented and executed across the practice.
  • Promotes innovation, technology, and training within the practice.
  • Encourages teamwork and project collaboration.
  • Leads miscellaneous task forces within the practice.
  • Coaches and mentors high-potential employees within the practice, nurturing their careers to help ensure they are retained for succession purposes.
  • Maintains monitoring complex projects and project pursuits to assure appropriate staffing, expertise and execution.

Requirements

  • Subject matter expert within their practice area.
  • Expert with industry-specific regulations and standards within the federal sector.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost control principles.
  • Strong grasp of risk management concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organizations.
  • Able to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong influence skills, with the ability to inspire high-performance teams.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Able to think strategically and translate strategies into actionable plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical and professional standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field. Master's preferred.
  • Experience with NAVFAC, AFCEC, and/or USACE preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience leading projects and/or business development in the Federal sector. Experience leading teams is preferred.
  • Licenses or Certifications required by professional in the practice. E.g., PE, AICP, PLA, etc.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel to various offices, conference events, and client sites (up to 25%).

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
