Position Overview
The Iowa Democratic Party is hiring Deputy Field Organizers for their 2026 coordinated campaign. This position is unionized through Teamsters Local 238 and is part-time through November 15th, 2026. The compensation is $16.54/hour and includes regular travel requirements.
Position Responsibilities
- Work to elect Iowa Democrats up and down the ballot by personally knocking on doors, recruiting volunteers, and attending community events in assigned communities
- Recruit, manage, and train volunteers to participate in direct voter contact; including but not limited to door-to-door canvassing, recruitment calls, and relational organizing
- Implement strategies to meet daily and weekly metrics, adhere to established statewide data standards, and ensure accurate data collection for all voter-contact activity
- Support Organizers and Regional Organizing Directors as needed at events, in offices, and during canvass launches
- Other duties as assigned by the Organizing Director
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to organize for Democrats up and down the ballot
- Valid driver’s license, reliable access to a personal vehicle, internet, and a cellphone
- Willingness to work in the field office and in the community you are assigned
- Strong communication skills – ability to speak with and persuade all kinds of voters
- Drive to hit and exceed metric goals, and ability to take feedback from managers
- Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and a willingness to problem-solve
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work long, irregular hours – including weekends
