About the Role

The deputy director will play a key role in helping to develop and execute the vision and mission of BHI in addition to leading an active federally funded research program in their area of research interest. The Deputy Director will be responsible for leading the implementation of the BHI Strategic Plan, as well as revising and developing new plan goals. In addition, the Deputy Director will lead BHI efforts to develop research training and mentoring programs for physician-researchers. The Deputy Director will also help recruit and retain physician-researchers in neuroscience and brain health research.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in developing and executing the vision and mission of BHI
• Lead an active federally funded research program in their area of research interest
• Implement the BHI Strategic Plan and revise and develop new plan goals
• Lead BHI efforts to develop research training and mentoring programs for physician-researchers
• Help recruit and retain physician-researchers in neuroscience and brain health research

Requirements

• Leader in a research area within neuroscience or brain health research with a strong, federally funded research program
• Leverage, stimulate, and lead translational science approaches from basic science to clinical to population levels
• Broad understanding and vision of translational neuroscience
• Strong belief in advancing brain health through cutting-edge interdisciplinary research
• Comfortable with a forward-facing role, consistent with the high profile this role will hold at Rutgers and within New Jersey

Qualifications

• MD/PhD, MD, or PhD degree
• Demonstrated ability to lead an independent NIH-funded research program
• Prior leadership and administrative experience in academia

Skills

• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans

Pay

Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week.
