This federal job offers a rewarding and exciting career with fantastic benefits. In this supervisory position, you will manage a large Civil Engineer Operations Flight and a large Emergency Management and Readiness Flight at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), AK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuity in the management of the installation's Civil Engineering functions.
  • Serve as Deputy Base Civil Engineer (DBCE) at JBER, sharing full responsibility for managing an organization of 1,121 authorizations with the Base Civil Engineer (BCE).
  • Apply a deep understanding of general engineering principles and how different fields (civil, mechanical, architectural) integrate on complex projects.
  • Set big-picture goals, develop policies, and advise senior executives on large-scale facilities or public works operations.
  • Oversee construction and facility maintenance, including trades, materials, and equipment.
  • Plan, organize, and direct functions; mentor, motivate, and appraise staff directly and through subordinate supervisors.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Designated Drug Testing Position.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a “Top Secret” security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Education requirements: OPM General Engineering Series 0801.

Skills

  • Knowledge of professional engineering concepts, principles, and practices across architectural/engineering disciplines.
  • Extensive knowledge of Base Civil Engineer mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, management, and operation of large organizations.
  • Thorough knowledge of trades, professions, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, limitations, and applications in civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, Military Equal Opportunity (MEO), and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of government contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of the Air Force Emergency Management System.

Pay

Salary range: $142,216 – $184,886 per year.
