About the role
Living Resources is a non-profit human services agency dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities or other life-challenging conditions to live with dignity, independence, and happiness. The Deputy Director of Behavioral Health Services oversees and advances behavioral health practices in compliance with OPWDD regulations, New York State, and agency policies. This role provides strong leadership to the behavioral health services team in coordination with the Senior Director of Integrated Health and Behavioral Services and collaborates with the Deputy Director of Health Services to ensure patient-driven supports and evidence-based strategies.
Responsibilities

- Provide supervision and oversight of the Behavioral Health Services Department to ensure delivery of care in accordance with OPWDD regulations and established standards of practice in social work, mental health counseling, and related fields.
- Conduct site visits where services are rendered, perform supervisory reviews and evaluations, and participate in audits and quality assurance initiatives.
- Ensure all behavioral health records and documentation are maintained in compliance with internal requirements and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Prepare for and attend state audits or formal investigations, providing support to site locations throughout the process.
- Promote and assess opportunities for improvement to ensure high-quality care, including participation in internal surveys, collaboration with quality review processes, and addressing identified trends.
- Facilitate initial orientation and continuous training for behavioral health staff and interns through meetings, professional development sessions, and assigned training programs.
- Assess the educational needs of the team based on industry standards, OPWDD requirements, and emerging trends in client care.
- Establish a collaborative approach to meetings and care coordination through an interdisciplinary team structure and provide consistent, supportive supervision.
- Offer leadership and support for agency-designated initiatives, including regulatory compliance, innovative program directives, and daily operations of the department.
- Attend and serve on internal agency committees as assigned by the Senior Director.
- Participate in the behavioral health evening/on-call rotation to provide coverage in unforeseen circumstances.
- Provide behavioral health coverage during staff vacancies to ensure continuity of care.
- Demonstrate responsiveness to agency requirements and directives from senior leadership.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited school in Social Work (preferred) or a related, licensable field.
- Current license and in good standing: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) registered with New York State’s professional board or related license.
- Three years of experience in supervision of behavioral health practitioners with OPWDD experience or five years of behavioral health services practice and management without OPWDD experience.
- Knowledge of OPWDD, OMH, DOH, or other similar regulatory environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs).
- Demonstrated management skills with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Ability to plan, communicate, and work collaboratively with colleagues and the management team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (LMSW, LMHC) or a related field with a focus on health systems.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodiverse and/or mental health needs.
- Experience with interdisciplinary clinical teams.

Pay
$90,000–$92,000 per year
