Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards

Option I: Administrative and Fiscal Services

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in public or business administration, or a closely related field
• Six (6) years of management level experience in a multi-divisional public, private or nonprofit agency in which the applicant has acquired the ability to plan, evaluate, administer and manage a variety of responsibilities or operations involving large expenditure of funds

Option II: Clinical Services

• Completion of a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral or social science field; AND one (1) year paid experience as an administrator or supervisor of a mental health program; AND appropriate licensure in the State of California as a mental health professional

OR

• Completion of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral or social science field; AND three (3) years paid experience as an administrator or supervisor of a mental health program; AND appropriate licensure in the State of California as a mental health professional

OR

• Completion of a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral or social science field; AND registered with the State of California as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist Intern or Pre-Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor AND four (4) years paid experience as an administrator or supervisor of a mental health program
• A California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) must be obtained within six (6) years of initial registration
• Failure to maintain a current and valid registration may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination

Examinations Appraisal

Weight 100%: Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and/or rating of the application. Applicants must attain at least 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
