Responsibilities
- Evaluate written reports and other evidence, interview witnesses, conduct legal research, and prepare and argue pleadings, motions and trial materials
- Present evidence and arguments at evidentiary hearings, motions, and trials before judges and juries
- Work closely with law enforcement, investigators, expert witnesses and community and business leaders
- Aid victims of crime and witnesses through the prosecution and trial process
- Collaborate with fellow prosecutors on case preparation and trial strategy
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion consistent with prosecutorial standards
- Prowl juvenile delinquency matters and appear in specialty courts as needed
Qualifications
- Licensed attorney eligible to practice law in Utah
- Strong interest in criminal prosecution and public service
- Commitment to fairness, integrity and ethical prosecution
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage an independent caseload while working collaboratively
- Two or more years of criminal law experience preferred, but not required
Work Environment
- Full-time (Monday through Friday) in-office position (not remote)
- Private office with a large window on the second floor of the County Administration Building
- Mentoring from senior prosecutors with an open-door policy
- Support from full-time in-house investigators and polygrapher
- Access to modern prosecutorial technology, including AI supported legal research software and ongoing training
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $135,000 annually depending on qualification and experience
