About the role
The First Judicial District Attorney's Office seeks a Deputy District Attorney to advocate for the People of the State of Colorado, focusing on just outcomes grounded in evidence-based decision-making and community protection.
Responsibilities
- Managing a county court docket
- Developing trial skills and representing the Office of the District Attorney
- Working collaboratively with office and court staff
- Meeting with victims, witnesses, and defense attorneys
- Assisting in the preparation of legal documents and conducting legal research
- Evaluating cases holistically to determine the best outcome for all parties
- Attending trainings on the role of a prosecutor and understanding diversion and treatment options
- Serving as 24-hour on-call legal support to law enforcement and responding to major traffic incidents
Requirements
- Preference given to those already admitted to the Colorado Bar
- Highly qualified law school graduates eligible for admission to the Colorado bar
Qualifications
- Licensed attorney or law school graduate eligible for admission to the Colorado bar
Skills
Essential trial skills, including jury selection, opening statements, direct and cross-examination, and closing arguments.

Pay
The anticipated hiring range is $91,500.00 to $117,000.00 USD annually, with compensation determined based on education, experience, and skills.
