About the Role

The Assistant Director of Human Resources Operations plays a key leadership role in the daily administration of the university’s HR functions, ensuring efficient operations, compliance with policies and regulations, and high-quality service delivery to faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage HR operational processes, including onboarding, offboarding, employee records management, and HR data integrity.
  • Lead HR service delivery, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries from employees, supervisors, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as university policies.
  • Manage HR information systems (HRIS) and related technology, ensuring data accuracy and system optimization.
  • Support HR reporting and analytics to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, communication, and vendor management.
  • Provide guidance and training to HR staff and university stakeholders on HR processes and procedures.
  • Participate in HR-related projects, initiatives, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience, with at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with HRIS and related technology platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
