About the role

Contributes to high-quality patient care by performing a variety of clerical services to support departmental operations. Functions as receptionist for the unit, assists the team with secretarial tasks, and maintains a clean, well-organized, and safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and attend to patients/visitors in waiting areas, directing them to other departments and keeping them informed of waiting times as needed; promote and display a positive, customer-oriented demeanor.
  • Perform secretarial tasks such as order entry and creating, labeling, and organizing charts; disassemble and file charts while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Receive and direct all incoming calls, relaying pertinent messages with accuracy, clarity, and confidentiality; exercise good judgment and discretion and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure waiting and work areas are tidy, organized, and safe for visitors, patients, and family members to foster a positive first impression.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers and office equipment, including intercoms, fax machines, and clinical documentation systems.
  • Order and restock office and unit supplies as needed; perform minor office equipment repairs and upkeep.
  • Serve as a communication liaison between units and other hospital departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
