About the Role
The LaFetra College of Education at the University of La Verne invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach and support candidates across our Teacher Education pathways, including the B.A. in Elementary Education, the M.A. in Inclusive Education, and our Special Education (Education Specialist Mild/Moderate and Extensive Support Needs), Single Subject, and Multiple Subject credential programs. Faculty are committed to academic quality, community engagement, and preparation for today’s classrooms, with particular value placed on culturally responsive practice and experience in diverse, urban school contexts.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Elementary Education that develop students' personal and professional readiness across core content areas such as writing, children's literature, physical education, social science, math literacy, science literacy, visual and performing arts, health education, and technology and digital literacy.
- Teach in online and hybrid modalities at the graduate and credential levels, using effective, inclusive methods and materials that meet course objectives while engaging candidates with varied experiences and learning styles.
- Prepare educators who will make meaningful contributions to PK–12 and K–12 student learning in a rapidly changing society.
Requirements
- Elementary Education: Master’s Degree in Education or related field, experience teaching (level dependent upon course), experience working with diverse populations, K-8 Multiple Subject credential (dependent on course), Single Subject Credential (dependent on course), Doctoral Degree (Preferred) in Education, Human Development or related field, preference given to those with evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and mentoring.
- Education Specialist – Mild/Moderate and/or Extensive Support Needs: Master’s degree in Education, current Clear CA teaching credential (Mild/Moderate or Extensive Support Needs) with English Language Learner and Autism Authorizations, commitment to and experience working with diverse student populations, minimum of 3 years of successful elementary or secondary teaching experience, Doctorate in Education, Special Education, or related field, understanding of Disabilities or Inclusive Education Studies, experience working in inclusive educational environments, experience with assessments, data-driven instruction, and technology.
- Single Subject: Master’s degree or higher with a current Clear California Single Subject, commitment to and experience working with diverse student populations including English Language learners, a minimum of three years of successful secondary teaching experience, ability to work with adult learners, effective communication and organization skills, Doctorate in Education or related field, teaching experience in an urban setting, experience with online instruction.
- Multiple Subject: Master’s degree in Education, Reading, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field, valid California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with an English Learner Authorization, experience working with diverse student populations including English Language Learners, at least three years of successful elementary or middle school teaching experience, experience in teaching and/or working with adult learners, Doctorate degree in Education or related field, teaching experience in an urban setting, experience with online instruction.
