Depot Supervisor

About the role

The Depot Supervisor manages day-to-day operations of a bread distribution depot. Key responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring timely deliveries, managing inventory, and maintaining depot cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise depot staff, including drivers, loaders, and warehouse personnel.
• Oversee loading and unloading of bread products to ensure accuracy and freshness.
• Manage depot inventory levels and coordinate returns, damages, and stale reporting.
• Ensure all routes depart on time with correct product and paperwork.
• Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ensure the depot is clean, organized, and secure at all times.
• Communicate with Market Managers, Sales, and corporate teams about orders and delivery updates.
• Monitor and maintain vehicle and equipment maintenance schedules.
• Lead by example in safety practices and enforce company policies and procedures.
• Train new depot employees on procedures, safety expectations, and company values.
• Assist with route coverage or product deliveries as needed.
• Complete required reports, paperwork, and communication logs in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of experience in warehouse, transportation, or route operations.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Experience in food or bread distribution.
• Familiarity with DSD (Direct Store Delivery) operations.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Schedule

Full-time, exempt position. Start times may vary depending on delivery schedules, with early morning and weekend hours often required. Minimal travel is expected, though occasional travel for training or support at nearby depots may occur.
