Deployed Support Specialist Mid- Portsmouth
About the role
Apex Systems is hiring a Network Deployment Technician for a large government client supporting the Navy and Marine Corps, on-site in Portsmouth, VA. The position requires an active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance, Active CompTIA Security+ CE Certification, and either CCST or CCNA certification (or ability to obtain within the first 6-months of employment).
Responsibilities
- Works as an Operations-focused Network Technician on a team responsible for BAN/LAN/WAN Network Operations, troubleshooting, schedule upgrades and cutovers, and coordinate with responsible users and sites.
- Provides COMSEC Alternate Local Element support to assigned locations, which includes maintaining COMSEC hardware/software assets and key inventories, loading keys into Encryption devices, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, upgrading, removing/replacing faulty equipment, interacting with the Primary Local Element and/or the Government KOAMs while standing in for the Primary Local Element and following prescribed procedures and processes related to COMSEC.
- Dates work activities/details per established tools and processes; maintains accurate site documentation.
- Interfaces with Field Base Network Lead and the Network Operations Center (NOC) as required in support of incident troubleshooting and restoration.
- Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and removal/replacement of faulty hardware using SOPs, TTPs, work instructions, vendor guidance, and other documented processes and procedures.
- Interfaces with the Network Operations Center (NOC) as required in support of incident troubleshooting and restoration.
- Supports network configuration/asset management activities, manages configuration drift, and accurately creates or modifies network documentation to reflect the as-is and/or to-be environment.
- Supports Cybersecurity requirements and implementation of security controls (STIG compliance).
- Captures and coordinates network upgrades and planned maintenance activities with SMIT Program and customer stakeholders.
- Recertifies training annually to maintain baseline, participates in training to maintain a baseline skillset and knowledge base, provides input to assist in development and improvement of content for Master Training Syllabus that will define the minimum On-the-Job-Training (OJT) requirements.
- Affords assistance with assigned Government Directed Actions (GDA) in a timely manner and reports completion to the Field Base Network Lead.
- Position may require local area and/or overnight travel by car or air to assigned locations to conduct operations focused activities i.e. break/fix, COMSEC support, etc.
Requirements
- Active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Active CompTIA Security+ CE Certification
- CCST or CCNA certification (or ability to obtain within the first 6-months of employment)

Pay
$31.12-$35.09/hour (depending upon experience)

Monday-Friday, Core Business Hours/Day Shift (8-hour shifts; Standard 40-hour work week)
