About The Position

The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Departmental Systems Administrator position. This recruitment will be used to hire for various positions including, but not limited to, a Service Desk position and a Network position.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing daily Information Technology (IT) operations that support airport systems, airline operations, and internal stakeholders.
  • Providing direct leadership to staff, ensuring appropriate staffing, effective communication, and timely resolution of technical issues in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment.
  • Acting as a key liaison between staff, airport divisions, vendors, airlines, and management, while promoting accountability, continuous improvement, and professional conduct.
  • Oversight and direction of technology deliverables within construction projects and other airport technology related projects, ensuring systems are delivered according to industry best practices and airport requirements.
  • Maintaining operational continuity across shifts, supporting technicians in adapting to new technologies and systems.
  • Identifying trends, improving reporting, strengthening knowledge management, and reducing repeat incidents to ensure continuity of critical airport operations.
  • Providing lead direction, training, and work review to departmental staff, organizing and assigning work, setting priorities, and following up to ensure coordination and completion of assigned work.
  • Gathering and analyzing information regarding departmental systems and requirements and those of related departments, developing or modifying automated systems to fulfill these needs.
  • Coding programs in a variety of languages using structural programming techniques or modifying personal computer ASSEMBLER language and related systems utilities.
  • Installing and configuring personal computer and/or network systems.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software problems, as needed, for departmental user staff.
  • Writing program documentation, user procedures, documentation, and instructions, and instructing departmental staff in using hardware and software applications and automated systems.
  • Maintaining records and preparing periodic and special reports of work performed.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of hardware, software, and network technology and recommending upgrades to departmental management.
  • Contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field and four (4) years of full-time professional level experience in systems analysis and design and hardware and software acquisition in a departmental environment, including some lead or supervisory experience.
  • Additional experience in systems analysis and/or programming may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years.
  • An advanced degree in appropriate field preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field and four (4) years of full-time professional level experience in systems analysis and design and hardware and software acquisition in a departmental environment, including some lead or supervisory experience.
  • License and Certifications: Specified positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of hire.
  • Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
  • Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.
  • Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Pay

This position is not eligible for overtime.

Schedule

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility List to fill current vacancies in the Service Desk, Network Subarea, and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.
