About the role
Create exceptional customer experiences by answering questions, recommending the appropriate items to complete construction and home improvement projects, and maintaining the facility in a clean and organized fashion. Lead assigned department and assist with any issues that may arise.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a high level of safety awareness to ensure you, your peers, our customers, and suppliers remain safe while in our facilities.
- Understand and follow the TAL PPE requirements as outlined in the TAL PPE Matrix by wearing the required PPE at all times and ensuring your team does the same.
- Responsible for the operational performance of their assigned department.
- Maintain quality store presentation as outlined in the TAL Store Standards document.
- Strategically develop department team and customer base to meet or exceed agreed upon sales and margin goals.
- Absorb and provide product information, selection, and purchase assistance to customers.
- Manage department inventory, including cycle counts, to maximize sales and inventory turnover.
- Train department and store personnel in assigned functions, including sales and customer service techniques.
- Direct the work of others by assigning tasks, creating schedules, communicating priorities, and motivating the team.
- Uphold the highest level of customer service to ensure an exceptional experience for our contractors, DIYers, and homeowners.
- Show in-depth understanding of the products in your department and basic knowledge of the merchandise in other departments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a retail or customer service environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
