Department of English (Speech Language Pathology) Part-time Lecturer Pool

About the role

The Department of English at CSUSB seeks a lecturer to teach ENG 5570: Audiology and Audiometry, supporting the Speech-Language Pathology Certificate and Minor programs. This course covers the anatomy and physiology of the ear and central auditory processing system, as well as the characteristics, assessment, and management of various hearing disorders.

Lecturers will prepare syllabi and assignments, create lessons and class activities, attend class weekly, grade assignments, hold weekly office hours, and respond to student communication in a timely manner.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare syllabi and assignments for assigned courses
• Develop and deliver lessons and class activities
• Attend class weekly for the duration of the semester
• Grade assignments and provide timely feedback
• Hold weekly office hours for student support
• Respond to student communication in a timely manner

Requirements

• MA/MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, Neuroscience, or a closely-related field (degree in hand by time of appointment)
• Commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population
• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students across disciplines

Qualifications

Preferred:

• PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, Neuroscience, or a closely-related field
• Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation
• Exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at the program level

Special Conditions

• The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083
• A background check (including a criminal records check) is required following a conditional offer of employment
• Applicants may be required to disclose any final administrative or judicial decisions regarding sexual harassment within the last 7 years, and sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current/former employers concerning substantiated allegations of misconduct

Pay

Salary is commensurate with experience and based on percentage of time appointed. Ranges are as follows:

• Lecturer A (Range 2): $5,507 – $6,677
• Lecturer B (Range 3): $6,221 – $13,224
• Lecturer C (Range 4): $6,825 – $14,523
• Lecturer D (Range 5): $8,593 – $15,211
