About the role
The Department Manager oversees the daily operations of the Three-Piece Department. Key responsibilities include managing staff, optimizing processes, and ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Responsibilities
- Complies with job safety practices and follows SQF guidelines.
- Maintains a safe and secure work environment by correcting unsafe acts/conditions, participating in safety meetings, conducting inspections, and investigating accidents.
- Directs and coordinates production activities to meet safety, quality, inventory, productivity, and housekeeping standards.
- Establishes and implements improvements for cost reduction, quality, and safety programs.
- Manages and coaches plant supervisors, ensuring seamless operations across departments.
- Maintains awareness of hazardous waste management and environmental requirements.
- Supports continuing improvement initiatives within the department.
Requirements
- Broad training in a related field, typically through a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent work experience.
- A BS in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
- 4+ years of job-related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of production principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures.
- Understanding of generally accepted managerial practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of business principles, legal practices, customer needs, and expectations.
- Assigned equipment handling capability.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Analysis and interpretation of statistical data.
- Wear appropriate safety gear and follow safety practices.
Qualifications
- Ability to wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in designated areas.
- Understand and practice proper accumulation and storage requirements of wastes.
- Recognize waste streams and minimize waste generation through prudent use of materials.

Pay
