Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility

The Program/Department Manager under the general supervision of the Program Director manages the administrative functions of the PA Program, including financial planning and tracking; managing the certification and training of faculty; managing, coordinating, and negotiating department programs, seminars, workshops, travel, special projects, and events; and conducting administrative tasks as defined by the Program Director. They work closely with the University's Accounting Department and other departments to ensure compliance with university standards.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in accordance with the program’s philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the financial planning and tracking of the PA Program budget.
  • Manage the certification and training of faculty/instructors as the Site Coordinator for Emergency Management Resources and the American Heart Association courses.
  • Manage, coordinate, and negotiate department programs, seminars, workshops, travel, special projects, and events.
  • Perform administrative tasks as defined by the Program Director.
  • Perform related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, or related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • Must be a self-starter, accountable, and able to perform without direct supervision.
  • Ability to analyze success/failures and basic percentages to set self-goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues, ability to plan and evaluate programs, and organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Internet, computer, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in education, business, or related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years' experience in a managerial function, preferably in a health professions occupation.
  • Internet, computer, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, bending, lifting, stooping, or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).

Environmental Conditions

  • Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office environment.
