About the Role
This position oversees all projects within the department to ensure timely execution aligned with client requirements and company policies. It involves supervising proposal preparation, cost estimation, daily operations, staff development, safety, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise or monitor all in-progress projects to ensure adherence to timelines, client requirements, and company policies.
- Oversee the preparation of proposals and cost estimates, ensuring proper scoping, resource availability, and profitability.
- Manage daily department operations, including staff training, performance reviews, safety oversight, and quality control.
- Plan and participate in business development to identify, win, and execute project opportunities while building client relationships.
- Direct short-range business development to secure adequate fees for department staffing.
- Recruit, select, train, mentor, and develop department employees.
- Prepare and execute the department’s annual business plan.
- Oversee key metrics: revenue growth, staff chargeability, billing, collections, and project profitability.
- Identify project-related risks and ensure compliance with company risk policies.
- Lead safety efforts, promote pre-task planning, and model a safe work environment.
- Monitor and improve quality standards for projects and proposals.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology) with 8 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of related experience without a degree.
- Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or licensure in the field of expertise.
- Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status.
