Department Chair In Information and Library Science
About the role
The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington, Indiana invites applications for the position of department chair of the Department of Information and Library Science (ILS). The search will remain open until a suitable candidate is found, but applications received by August 15, 2025 will be assured full consideration.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Department of Information and Library Science in developing and implementing a forward-looking research and teaching agenda.
- Ensure the department's continued leadership position in the Information and Library Science field.
- Oversee the accreditation process for the department.
Requirements
- Full professor rank with an excellent scholarly and teaching record.
- A documented record of leadership experience in an academic setting.
- Familiarity with the ALA accreditation process.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Information Science, Library Science, or a related field.
- Experience in higher education administration.
- Strong commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the department.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and mentor faculty and students.
- Knowledge of best practices in information science and library science.

Pay
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
